Individual digital image download purchases are available directly through the dabstudios website.  You will see the option to purchase digital image downloads along with prints in each gallery. The digital image downloads are medium-size, JPEG format color images.

Image Availability

All photographs taken by dabstudios photographers since September 2002 are available as digital images.  Images of participants in sports and events are available on CD or DVD.  Images of participants from one family may be grouped together on a CD or DVD.  Complete sets of all images of all participants for a game, event, or season are not available.

Image Delivery

Delivery of images can be done via email, CDs and DVDs depending on the number of images, their format and their size.  CDs and DVDs have a selectable image and title printed on the surface of the CD or DVD.  Both CDs and DVDs come packaged in slim black, red, blue, purple, orange and clear jewel cases.  Images are recorded on one or more CDs or DVDs according to your order instructions and the number of images in the package requested.

Season Image Subscription

You can subscribe to a sports team for a season before the season starts and receive all the digital images of your family members for that team's season for one low payment.  A subscription gives you a 20% discount from the standard price for a season of images!  Season subscribers will be guaranteed to have dabstudios photographers capture many images of their family members participating on the team throughout the season.

Images for the season are usually delivered at the end of the season, but you can request delivery after each game for an additional $5.00 processing and shipping fee per game.  If a player is hurt during the season and does not play the rest of the season, you will be refunded the subscription price minus the cost of the images already delivered to you.  The cost of the images already delivered would be the lower of the individual image cost or the per game image cost.

Image Prices

Prices listed do not include shipping and taxes.  dabstudios.com will replace any damaged CD or DVD up to 30 days after purchase if the damaged CD or DVD is returned to dabstudios.  After 30 days, dabstudios will replace a damaged CD for a nominal replacement charge of $5.00 and $10.00 for a DVD.  We use the highest quality CDs and DVDs that have rated lifetimes of 40+ years when properly stored.  Kodak Ultima gold archival CDs are available for an extra $5.00 charge per CD and have a rated lifetime of 100+ years.  The cover art for the Kodak CDs will be printed on CD case inserts since the CD surface cannot be printed or marked.

Placing an Image Order

We are working on adding a shopping cart and electronic payment for image CD or DVD orders, but for now you can create an order by sending an email request to .  Include the following information:

1. Which images you want to order:
• specific images by name
• specific games/events by team/group and date
• a season of games/events for a team/group
• a subscription to a season of games/events for a team/group
2. What image format you want, RAW, JPEG, TIFF or other.  JPEG is the default.
3. What size you want, medium, large or custom.  Medium size is the default.
4. What media you want, email, CD or DVD.  The choices may be limited by the number and size of the image files.
5. Which image you want on the CD or DVD surface, if CD or DVD media was chosen.
6. Your contact information, name, address, and phone number.

We will reply with an invoice for the package by email that includes shipping and taxes.  Once you have confirmed that the invoice is correct by responding to the invoice email message, we will prepare the order.  As soon as we receive payment, the order will be shipped.

Digital Slideshows

Digital slideshows are available on a pre-order basis.  A digital slideshow typically contains between ~150 to ~250 images with an optional musical audio track.  The theme for a slideshow is usually the season highlights for a team, but other compilations can be made upon request.  Audio tracks can optionally be supplied by you as audio CDs or MP3 files.  Digital slideshows are made available through our box.com cloud file service.  The digital images in a slideshow are not suitable for printing.

Image Formats

dabstudios photographers shoot their photos using raw image formats to provide the highest quality images possible.  The raw images are edited, cropped, processed and converted into a finished image format such as jpeg, tiff or any other format requested.  The common image formats are descibed briefly in the following list.

• A RAW image is a record of the image data captured by the camera sensor along with the camera settings used at the time of exposure.  Raw images are the digital equivalent of exposed, but undeveloped film.  They may be significantly resampled, have their exposure significantly altered, have their white balance changed without image degradation and be manipulated to preserve the highlights and shadows.
• TIFF images are either 8-bit or 16-bit and can be optionally compressed.  Professional pre-press and print shops typically request images in TIFF format.  16-bit TIFF format image quality is much better than JPEG format image quality.
• JPEG images are 8-bit compressed images primarily used for electronic display and printing through online and local labs.  The level of compression determines the quality of the JPEG image.  The images used to make prints in the dabstudios Shutterfly Pro Galleries are JPEG images.

Image Sizes

Images are available in medium, large and custom sizes.  The image size you should order depends on the uses you have for the images.

• Medium size images are approximately 1200x1800 pixels and are suitable for printing up to 8"x12" prints.  The images stored in the Shutterfly galleries are usually medium size images.  All the finished image formats are available in medium size.
• Large size images are between 2000x3000 and 3200x4800 pixels, and are suited for printing up to 20"x30" prints.  Images at this size may be resampled up to 3x without visual degradation of the image.  All the finished image formats are available in large size.
• Custom image sizes larger than 3200x4800 pixels are resampled from the original raw images by dabstudios.com, and can be used to print posters, life-size prints and billboards.  All the finished image formats are available in custom sizes.

Digital Image License

• dabstudios digital images are licensed with a non-commercial, non-exclusive personal license to view and make prints from the images.
• The copyrights to all dabstudios digital images are held by the photographer that shot the images.  All rights are reserved by the copyright holder.
• Copying the digital images is allowed only for the purpose of making backups.
• Distribution of the digital images to anyone other than the purchaser is expressly forbidden without the consent of dabstudios.

Digital Slideshow License

• A dabstudios digital image slideshow is licensed with a non-commercial, non-exclusive personal license to play the slideshow in non-commercial venues.
• The copyrights to all dabstudios digital images are held by the photographer that shot the images.  All rights are reserved by the copyright holder.
• Copying the digital image slideshow is allowed only for the purpose of making a backup.
